RF IDeas pcProx Plus is a dual frequency programmable card reader that provides the advantages of reading both proximity and contactless smart cards in one reader. This reader allows users to leverage their employee ID badges, or any 125 kHz or 13.56 MHz tags or labels, for other forms of secure authentication and identification throughout the workplace.
With flash memory and supporting nearly all card types, the pcProx Plus allows users to quickly configure the readers output to meet their needs. Highly configurable technology allows the reader the capability of simultaneously handling any two of the available technologies — proximity or contactless. This multi-technology reader delivers flexibility to any customer, integrator or end user struggling with different card technologies. It’s ideal for enrollment into third party software or for single sign-on integrators.
As one of the most robust readers available today, the pcProx Plus is provided standard with four* card configurations (two are pre-set; two are user definable) enabling an IT or security department to seamlessly integrate additional card types. Additionally, the user-adjustable beeper volume lets users set the volume low or off for quiet zones or adjust the beeper volume to high in noisy work environments. And, in certain industries such as manufacturing where machinery or other factors cause interference, the 13.56 MHz auto-tuning antenna ensures the best power transfer between the card and reader to optimize read range despite interference.
Also available in an SDK (or 82 Series) model, it can integrate into most software or hardware through the use of the RF IDeas Universal Software Developer’s Kit (SDK). In contrast to the Enroll readers, the SDK readers use a callable DLL or other direct integration methods rather than keystroking (emulating a keyboard device). These readers deliver the card ID in a format that applications recognize, offering nearly limitless possibilities for user identification and authentication.
With the latest pcProx Configuration Utility, the pcProx Plus reader can also perform as a Card Analyzer. A convenient tool for partners, resellers and integrators, the software-based functionality ensures quick and easy discovery of card technology for determining compatible readers, analysis of badge data such as ID, FAC or bits, and simple configuration of the reader to match the badge technology. When used as a card analyzer, the pcProx Plus easily learns card type and conveniently configures the reader. When further card information is required, users simply select Analyze. It’s that simple!
